Technical Business Analyst - 8month FTC

Technical Business Analyst - 8month FTC

Fixed-term contract for the duration of Programme Drive

The Opportunity

Lawfront is a fast-growing, PE-backed group of seven leading law firms, and Programme Drive is the technology transformation bringing them together. We are migrating each hub firm off its legacy platforms and onto a single, modern Lawfront stack of Aderant Expert Sierra, Clio Operate, NetDocuments, and Intapp Time, and we are looking for a Technical Business Analyst to sit at the centre of that work, between the business and the technical teams.

This is a hands-on, fixed-term programme role for someone who is as comfortable with data and systems as they are with people and process. You will get to know how each hub firm works today, capture what it needs from the Lawfront platform, and turn that into clear, testable requirements the delivery teams can build against. You will support data discovery ahead of migration, shape test scenarios with the QA team, and help the business prepare for new ways of working.

If you are a strong analyst who can bridge the gap between fee earners and technologists, and who enjoys turning a messy current state into a clear future one, we would like to hear from you.

What You Will Do

  •  Work with fee earners, finance, risk, and operational teams across the hub firms to understand how they work today and what they need from the Lawfront platform
  • Elicit, analyse, and document business and functional requirements for migrations onto Aderant Expert Sierra, Clio Operate, NetDocuments, and Intapp Time
  • Map current-state and future-state processes, identifying the differences between how each hub firm operates and the group’s target ways of working
  • Support data discovery, helping to understand the structure, quality, and meaning of data held in legacy systems ahead of migration
  • Translate business needs into clear, testable requirements and specifications that the configuration, data, and development teams can build against
  • Work closely with the QA and test team to turn requirements into test scenarios, and to make sure what is delivered matches what the business actually needs
  • Facilitate workshops and working sessions that get to clear decisions, and document those decisions so they stick
  • Act as a translator between business stakeholders and technical teams, making sure each understands the other and that nothing is lost between them
  • Support the analysis of change impact across each hub, helping the business and the Education and adoption team prepare for new ways of working
  • Help build a consistent, reusable set of requirements and process artefacts that can be adapted as each successive hub firm moves onto the platform

What You Will Bring

  •  A track record as a business analyst on technology, systems implementation, or migration projects, ideally within professional services, legal, or a similarly regulated sector
  • Strong requirements elicitation and documentation skills, able to produce clear, testable requirements and specifications that technical teams can build against
  • Solid process mapping and analysis skills, comfortable capturing a current state and designing a future state
  • Genuine comfort with the technical and data side of a delivery, including data structures, migration, and integration, so that you can work credibly with technical teams
  • Strong facilitation skills, able to run workshops that reach clear decisions and keep diverse stakeholders aligned
  • Excellent communication skills, equally at home with fee earners and senior business stakeholders as with developers and configuration specialists
  • A methodical, analytical approach, with the curiosity to understand why a process works the way it does and the judgement to challenge it constructively
  • The ability to work across several hub firms and workstreams at once, keeping the delivery team informed of progress and risk

What Would Set You Apart

  •  Experience with Aderant, Clio, NetDocuments, or Intapp, or with comparable practice management, case management, and document management platforms
  • Experience analysing and improving legal operations processes such as matter creation, time recording, billing, or risk and compliance checks
  • Familiarity with data discovery and data quality work ahead of migration, including profiling legacy data and defining quality rules
  • Familiarity with integration and middleware concepts, including Boomi, and how data moves between systems
  • Experience working within a structured programme delivery environment, with an appreciation of how requirements, testing, and go-live gates fit together
  • A relevant business analysis qualification, for example BCS or IIBA
