Law Students Vacation Scheme
Location: Sale – Crossgate House
Duration: 2 consecutive weeks between July 2026 – August 2026
Application Deadline: 1st March 2026
About the Programme
Our Vacation Scheme is designed for ambitious law students, primarily in second year, who want a meaningful, structured insight into life at a professional legal firm.
Over two weeks, you’ll gain hands on experience, structured learning, and exposure across multiple practice areas — all while being supported by experienced legal professionals.
The programme will provide a minimum of 60 hours of Work Experience that will align to some curriculum requirements for work experience as part of your legal studies.
What You’ll Experience
During the placement, you will:
You’ll receive 360 degree feedback, helping you understand your strengths and areas for growth as you continue your legal career from each area you experience as well as our careers team.
What We’re Looking For
We’re keen to hear from students who:
You don’t need prior legal work experience — just enthusiasm, commitment, and a willingness to get involved.
Why Apply?
We are passionate about supporting the next generation of legal professionals and building longterm relationships with universities and students.
How to Apply
Please submit:
A brief cover statement outlining:
- Why you’re interested in the programme
- What attracts you to a career in law
- What you hope to gain from the placement
- What dates you are available to attend
Applications will be reviewed through a structured selection process to ensure we offer placements to students who will benefit most from the experience and are aligned to the Slater Heelis values.
Our Commitment
We are proud to support our local community, invest in future talent, and create meaningful development opportunities. Our Work Placement Programme reflects our values of learning, inclusion, and professional growth.
Whilst we want to support as many individuals as possible, we will have a limited number of placements available that we have evaluated will allow us to ensure a quality experience.
Although our programme is ideally designed for 2nd year students, we will consider applications from any current university or post graduate students that have a genuine interest in a career in law – our programme is simply designed to be best suited to 2nd year students that are beginning to think about their careers post degree and have enough knowledge of the legal sector to be able to take on more complex tasks that will enrich their experience.
